Pit and fissure caries (enamel)
Dental caries formation in developmental pit and fissures or grooves occurred with the development of a plaque and the retention of food or certain drugs that cause tooth decay such syrup, gummy.
That process is the same for smooth surface caries except that the area of cavitation does not enlarge as rapidly as in pit and fissures caries.

Carie of cementum
This occurs in the case where gum goes up and the root is exposed what can cause dental caries root. When the cementum is destroyed, the dentinal layer is attacked by bacteria(lactobacilli and streptococcus)like for other formation carious processes. But the interproximal caries are more moderate.
In this classification they speak about the moderate level of caries where the dentist can ask you to change certain habits about food or drugs intake.
At these stages, they can think to dental restoration and the cost is lower.Several types of material may be used to enhance the smile during the restoration; composite resin, veneer, crown,amalgam filling... etc.
