In the tea you have an important compound called tannic acid that helps efficiently in the blood clot formation. It represents a real substitute for gauze.

 

After 45 minutes if the bleeding persists but weakly, repeat the same instruction. If you see, it is still important see your dentist.

Why blood cloth after the extraction?

 

After pulling out the tooth a blood clot forms to seals the empty socket what allows a further healing it is important for you not to do anything that can disturbed, or dislodge this blood clot.

 

During the first 24 hours following the extraction, you should avoid spitting or rinsing vigorously your mouth.

Phenomenon of suction caused by using a straw or smoking reveals also harmful and the same for hot liquids such as coffee or soup which will dissolve blood clots and cause severe pain in gum.

 

You have to know all negative events that happen during this period can delay or affect the healing process for days to come. We can notice that dry socket is one of complication of the blood clot loss.

Swelling after extraction

 

During extraction the area was traumatized, it is normal, the swelling appears. You can feel a slight fullness in the area or in the extreme case a clear enlargement of the face portion in question.

In the other words, more the extraction was difficult more the swelling will be obvious. It is easy to control it by placing in this faces part ice for 10 minutes, and then take it off for the next 20 minutes.

You are free to repeat this technique as long as you judge to be necessary.

 

Stop smoking after extraction

 

The first 48 hours after tooth extraction are important for you to stop smoking.

Experience shows that people who smoking immediately after extraction of a tooth are more exposed to develop dry socket than those don’t.

If you stop smoking for some hours it will be more advantageous for you.

Post extraction problem and pain medication

 

If you experience some minor pain after your dentist has finished pulling out the tooth you can ask him to use some non-prescription drugs such as acetaminophen (Tylenol) or Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil).

 

Remember each product has its own directions and warnings that accompany it don’t forget to read it carefully and respect the data.

Sometime your dentist can prescribe you a pain reliever which contains offensive compounds for your stomach or can not be taken in association with other medicine, don’t forget to read the label or discuss about that with your dentist (or pharmacist).

 

Many pain reliever need to be taken with meal or after meal just to protect your stomach. With some of them you can experience drowsy effects.

Thus, if you avoid driving or to do anything that requires much attention, it will be largely benefit for you.

Take your antibiotic as indicated no to create resistant bacteria to antibiotic.

Other Precaution

 

To take a rest 24 hours after the intervention is good for you to minimize blessing and pain in gum or mouth after tooth extraction.

 

You can use an extra pillow to bring higher your head and limit your types of exercises and activities to help formation of blood clot in the extraction site.

 

Foods

 

It is recommended after a difficult extraction to take rather soft or liquid diet for the first 24 hours. Hot substances, alcoholic beverages are to avoid also.

 

Brushing teeth

You always need to brush properly your teeth to keep a clean environment but you would rather not to brush neighboring teeth to the area in question.

 

Mouthwashes with alcohol are harmful, it is better if you refuse to use any mouthwash for the first 48 hours.

 

What you can do 24 hours after, you use warm salt water (½ teaspoon of salt in a cup of water) to rinse gently mouth after meals and before bed.

More you take precaution after extraction more you will be happy, (you do not have pain in gums, or mouth) and less you feel pain after tooth extraction.
