Is there a possibility to save the tooth? Just a simple reading on this page will bring you all information.

Dental Pulpitis?

It is characterized by the inflammation of dental pulp anatomically, there are three parts in the tooth.

The enamel protects the tooth crown and the cement protects the tooth root.

Beneath the both, we have the dentin less mineralized than enamel.

More deeply, there is the pulp in which are blood vessels that bring nutrients to tooth and nerves which allow tooth to make difference between hot or cold in other words, they assure the sensitivity of the tooth.

The inflammation is frequently caused by bacteria infection.

When the tooth is decayed and remained untreated, the infection spreads through dentin to reach the pulp.

At this step, it causes toothache

Usually there are two types of pulpitis : acute and chronic

I- Acute

The acute type is found mainly in children teeth and adolescent. The pain is more accented in the affected tooth than in chronic.

Symptoms and Signs

The pain localized in the affected tooth is constant and throbbing

• The tooth becomes painful.

• The pain may be sharp and stabbing.

• Change of color is obvious in the affected tooth.

Forms

1. Form of purulent acute where the pulp is totally inflamed.

2. Form of gangrenous acute where the dead of pulp begins to become a realty.

At this step, the formation of dental abscess is often marked.

II- Chronic

In the other side, this type may be classified in reversible and irreversible .

Reversible

The inflammation of pulp is mild and the tooth doesn’t need to be treated. The healing will come itself over time.

Irreversible

It is represented by progression of reversible where the pulp is severely inflamed.

It is recommended to make treat reversible early in order to avoid all complication such as irreversible, tooth abscess.

If you feel toothache don’t afraid, your dentist may prescribe you some antibiotic and analgesic or start immediately a treatment to prevent pulpitis.
