What is it?
Ordinary called bruxism,it is characterized by the clenching the both lower jaw and upper jaw.
That situation is accompanied by the grinding of the lower set of teeth with the upper set.
Many adults, youth and kids in their life have suffered from clinching. Generally people are not conscious about that condition.
They can become conscious until at least, two or more persons call their attention about the nighttime sounds that their bruxism realizes.
There are two great moments for the bruxism: during the waking hours and during the deep sleep.
But during deep sleep, the bite pressure can become six times more excessive than the one produced while waking hours.
Studies showed that the more important damage in the teeth happens with this nighttime bruxism.
Consequences of Bruxism
* Attrition
Usually the teeth become significantly shortened, sensitive, and cause cosmetic damage.Bruxism engenders the disappearance of chewing surfaces of the teeth.
Fractured filling and teeth
Certain dental works may be fractured and the teeth cracked because of jawtightening teeth grinding.
* Temporomandibular Joint Problem
The temporomandibular joint may be traumatized by bruxism. That constitutes the area which connects the lower jaw to upper jaw facilitating use to chew and talk.
* Headaches, ear and some facial muscles
For bruxism, the same muscles used during mastication are in action. In the morning, these muscles feel sore and tender, what may produce pain when biting. In youth the stress is one of major causes.
Consequently the pain may irradiate to the ear-neck-head. In kids if there is an infection at the ear, therefore bruxism may be present.
