Tooth Abscess

 

Tooth abscess, known also as abscess tooth, periapical abscess, does it make you be angry when you are obliged to delay an important activity?

 

Does it represent a danger for the tooth because of its complications? It represents a collection of infected material around the tooth root (tooth apex).

 

There are two forms of abscess, the acute form is more common and the chronic form which comes usually when former form is not treated.

 

As any abscess of the body,abscess tooth contains a thick material including broken-down cells (specially the polymorphonucleare leucocytes), living cells and bacteria.

 

I-Factors Causing

 

Some of cases occur when there was untreated tooth decay in the mouth. Maybe the disease was situated in a position out of sight.

 

Then the bacteria and their products invade the pulp (Center of the tooth) and cause pulpitis.A few times later the pulp will be died.

 

 

The same microorganisms continue their way through the root of tooth until its end (tooth apex) where, there will be a greater collection of pus which touches almost all around areas of the tooth root.

 

Other causes

 

After teeth were severely traumatized or broken. If untreated few months later the teeth become pink after gray at the end black.

 

Finally a bad endodontic treatment may place the tooth in danger causing tooth abscess by chemical irritation.

 

II-Signs

 

* Dental mobility appears clearly.

* The tooth is very sensitive when touching or chewing, pain is sometimes noticed.

* That gives felling of a longer tooth than others.

* Swollen glands the neck or beneath the lower jaw.

 

III- Symptoms.

 

General symptoms: as fever, felling discomfort, bad taste in the oral cavity .

 

The pain increases during bedtime and can last several days.

 

 

IV- Treatment

 

One of the better treatments is the root canal with a surgical treatment if important to prevent other complication.

 

The dentist uses also antibiotic during the treatment and sometime certain analgesics to control the pain.

 

If impossible, the extraction is the final choice.

 

Really nothing can replace a good smile. When your teeth are in good health, that gives a good impression about your general health.

Pay attention with all symptoms and periapical abscess. So the treatment or filling of all tooth cavities is the one of ways to prevent tooth abscess.
